Need: Hacksaw That Disassembles

I need a decent quality, high tension 12" hacksaw that disassembles and fits into my new toolbox, a Milwaukee Compact Box, which has internal dimensions of 9x14".

Many hacksaws available don't disassemble, and as far as I can tell, nobody makes a 12" hacksaw with an overall assembled dimension of <14" not even the relatively short Craftsman.

Ideas? Source?

Thanks!

P.S.: I don't mean one of those little compact hacksaws made by Lennox or Milwaukee or Stanley that's in the shape of a hook and lets the blade stick out beyond the support. I want a full frame, supported at both ends of the blade, high tension hacksaw. I have loads of 12" blades to use.

Usually the front flips up on the Stanley. Don’t know if it pulls completely out.

Not that I am endorsing that style, those are my least favorite, I have a few hi tension ones that get most of the work, I can go see if the disassemble.

My problem is usually the handle under hanging the blade.

I have a breakdown hacksaw. I think it is called a Wyoming Saw. It's for hunting and backpacking. Uses full size blades. Comes with a coarse blade for wood or bone. Also a fine blade for metal.

I keep looking, but I haven't found any metal deer roaming around.

I found it, dimensions given as 10 x 13 inches. The length is good but the depth is an inch over for lying flat. Will try it upright. I like the looks of it. Uses standard 12" hack blades, you say?

Hmm... says it takes 11-1/8" blades...I wonder if those are proprietary blades?

Will this work?
Non-branded, but just like the Millers Falls (and many other) hacksaws I've seen since I was a kid. Uses 8, 10 and 12" blades.

And even if there was some sort of hook to keep the front frame from pulling out, a grinder would make short work o that.

Yes, that would do it...thank you! Looks like I need to get an adjustable and maybe modify it a bit. I doubt it'll ever be "high tension" but it should be good enough to get the job done. (I suspect the high tension hacks don't disassemble.)

Thanks also for the pic with the tape measure!

Not sure. Thought they were standard. Now I'm curious. I will check mine today. Why would they make it 7/8 short? Maybe 12 nominal is 11-1/8 pin to pin? Best wishes!

Sent email to WyomingKnife: Does Wyoming Saw 1 also take standard 12" hacksaw blades?

Response: No. The holes on the those blades are too small for our saws. Also, I believe they are about and inch and 1/2 too long.

My Facom 603E disassembles quickly, takes 12s and fits your need. They are NLA new, but you might find one NOS.

It will fit in a 14x7 with the short leg roughly parallel to the box.
The round knob simply unthreads to release the frame.

Yes, that would be just about perfect. Have searched, and they appear to be truly off the market. I think I'm a couple of years too late, and its replacement is a solid frame model.

LOL I was just scrolling down to ask "what flavor cake it was going in?"

LOL. "Any flavor'll do, friend, but could I ask that you slip in a file also?"
