I've lurked on GJ for a while now but never really posted anything but I'm looking for some ideas on getting myself a little place to work.
Here's the background.
I bought my house in 2007 with the intention of fixing it up while living in it for a few years then sell it. well as we all know, houses don't sell these days. So that didn't quite work out. Its not a bad house. 950ft^2, 2 bed, 2 bath. The problem is, it is on a very small lot (i believe 60x45) and has no garage. I did build a small shed that I use for storing my tools, the lawn mower, etc. Since I don't have a spare bedroom or garage or anything,
I set up my upholstery shop in the corner of our not so big living room. Basically I have one 3'x7' table and fabric, leather and vinyl stored in every nook and cranny in the house. Although this is far from ideal, it has worked but my wife and I are expecting another baby (our second) and I'm definitely going to need to get the house cleaned out some. I have a concrete pad on the side of the house that measures about 16'x24'.
I'm thinking about building a shed 14'x14' or so which would still allow me to part one of my cars (I have a '53 Willys and an 03 Civic race car) but give me enough room to do my upholstery work and also store the lawn mower, etc. The plan would be to take down the existing shed and build new. Because of the setbacks, I can't technically build a garage on the pad so it has to be "portable".

Apparently I don't have any pictures of the concrete pad. but here it is when it was gravel to give you an idea of the size and all. (don't mind the mess, I was rebuilding my RX7)

If anyone has any thoughts or insights I'm all ears. I haven't been able to figure out a good way to make this work but with a new baby coming in November, I want to get something going.
