Hey guys, I am attending an auction in April of a friend that passed away. He rode motocross with my father-in-law for years and that's how I met him. He passed away in the fall during a race, at least he was doing what he loved... Anyways, his wife is auctioning off the house and most of his belongings. LOTS of tools it looks like!

I will be going and bidding on a few items as well as anything that catches my eye. I was just hoping for a few estimates on what you all think a few of the items are worth.

The items I am most interested in are:
1. The blue shop press
2. Either Craftsman 60 Gal. Compressor
3. The Buffalo Horizontal Band Saw
4. The Stihl MS 280
5. The Milwaukee Sawzall

If I could have your opinions on these that would be great! I don't want to bid away and realize I over payed for a lot of these things!!

Thanks!

HF sells them for 189 or 179?

The 280 is missing the chain brake. If it is with the saw and just not installed then 250.00 - 300.00. That is if nothing else is gone. If it is missing then 100.00 - 150.00. They went for 500.00 with a 16" bar new. You would want to look the saw over carefully and even start it yourself, if they will let you.

No offense to your friend that is no longer with us. Sorry to hear about that BTW. But the items you are interested in are not exactly high dollar items on the used market.

1. The blue shop press
- I wouldn't go over $75. Can find them on Clist or new at HF

2. Either Craftsman 60 Gal. Compressor - Pass on both, especially the "sealed" self contained unit. The belt drive might be OK, looks homemade, but would be my pick of the two

3. The Buffalo Horizontal Band Saw - I use to have one. $100 max if it works good. Same as almost all other 4x6 offshore bandsaws. Actually I would pass as they are a horrible design. (Lacking a oil seal).

4. The Stihl MS 280 - Depends on how it runs, look up a new price. They are nice saws if not worn out. Looks like it has a new bar and chain.

5. The Milwaukee Sawzall - Same as for the stihl. Base it on new price and how it works.

Looks like there is some other nice stuff, like the welders and tool box

Thanks for the replies... I realize it's all not that high dollar stuff as he was a farmer and they usually do make due with what they have. I am not looking for TOP end stuff just yet either as I am 23 and about to move out so funds are somewhat limited but still like to have a variety of tools.

volaredon, the auction is actually about 170 miles west of Chicago in a town called Aledo. Along the Mississippi river.
