Hey everybody!

I am a mechanical drafting college student, and i need some help getting manufacturing info on this old columbian vise that seemingly was made of old wilton bullet vise parts, i am doing my project on.

I need to know:

1. What each part is made of
2. How each part was made
3. If each part had any heat treatment or any special treatments
4. The name of the 2 small, square, insert-looking jaw parts shown in one of my pics.
5. What the individual function of each part is when combined (such as whether or not it gives more pressure or more adjustability)

It's due December 2nd, so hopefully i'm not too late posting this! I have the rest of the project done and all the names of the other parts besides the ones i asked about in #4.

Thanks again in advance, you'd all be doing me a solid with any info you have on this vise!

#4 is a picture of the vise's pipe jaws.
The red parts are cast iron. Serrated jaws are steel. Handle and screw are steel. Pipe jaws are cast iron. Can you begin to tell the difference now, between cast iron and steel?

draftingstudent...I'll help you, but not in the way you may be expecting. A big part of a research project is to learn how to become more skilled at researching, which includes providing the reference of your findings.

You came to the right place to get your answers about the vise, but expecting others to do your research is weak.

Use the search feature, as shown below and you should find ample information to answer all of your questions and correct the false assumptions you have regarding your vise. If you still have some unanswered questions after you do your diligent research, I'd be happy to provide whatever I can to you.
