Can someone decipher what these numbers mean? I was trying to find the PSF info to see if I can install a metal ceiling 29 gauge and R30 insulation on these trusses. But I see no PSF on here. 28 span x 44 ceiling, 48" on center. Thanks

SPIB = Southern Pine Inspection Bureau
KD19 = Kiln Dried Moisture content greater than 19%
HT = Heat Treated
IF04 = Interfor Thomaston Division (Sawmill where it was processed)

Not sure about the text of the second line, but I don't think that came from the truss maker, I think that came from the sawmill too.

That's the lumber grade information. At 48" oc I'm guessing for 5 psf on the bottom chord depending on your location.
You should have some drawings that came with the trusses.

Thanks all, unfortunately I was never given the drawings/info for the trusses, I'll give my contractor a call.

Yup, agree with others here. If you can’t get a hold of the truss engineering or company, I think you’d be OK with 29 ga metal and insulation, that combo doesn’t weigh much.

I called my contractor (a mennonite) he said the trusses are way strong enough for metal ceiling and insulation. Since he designed it with 48" OC, he specified the stronger trusses. He said I could come up and get the paper from the company but I trusted him.

Get the truss documents. Even though you trust him now, you may not as the building progresses. I trusted mt contracted and cost me a fortune later on after finding major mistakes. Good peace of mind.

I agree. No harm in getting the documents
