I am new here but have been a HAMBer for a few years .
If I am in the wrong area then let me know .
I am looking for a used cam bearing installer tool for a Ford 302 . If you have one to sell at a fair price or will trade for something please let me know . I am trying to save the machinist costs as much as possible . I really don't want to have to buy a new one but if I do I will .
Can someone tell me the size I need .
Thanks to all !

I looked around online and it appears you can get a new Ford cam bearing tool for around $100 or you can buy a universal cam bearing tool for around $130 or so (of course, Chevy cam bearing tools are around $50.) You may be able to find a used one on eBay or borrow one locally, but for a one time use tool like that I'd probably just pay the machine shop to do it.

Yup, I bought a Lisle and paid a little extra for it because of USA but the knock off at the auto parts store was right around 130 and look like it would be just as good. We bought a tool even though it sees only occasional use its nice to have where and when we need it and 3 or 4 jobs pay for it.

I don't mean to insult, and you probably already know, but just in case, beware some cam bearings get clocked to certain positions for proper oiling.

Do you do a lot of engines? I do about one a year and just have the engine shop do them after hot-tanking, magnuflux and whatever trueing/honing is needed.

Thanks to all for the help .
I think I will just buy a new one because I have 3 engines I will be rebuilding in the next 2 years , so I will at least break even and won't have to leave the block .
If anyone in in Pa. let me know .
Thanks again,Jim
