Need help finding a source for a leaf table extension sliding block

Hello! I hope all here are doing well! We have an old dining table with the slide extension so we can drop in a 20 inch leaf extension. It's been sticking a little in the last few years, but then would get better (I assumed it probably had to do with humidity). Anyway, it finally broke, well actually just the sliding block between the two extension slides broke. It's about a 4 inch piece of hardwood, roughly shaped like an hourglass laying on it's side. The rest of the slide parts are in great shape (ie: the hardwood slide pieces and the metal gear wheel and geared track). I have been unable to find any source where I can just get the pieces I need. Everyone seems to want to sell the whole slide assembly, which seems foolish to buy when all I need is a couple of little pieces of shaped wood. Thought about looking for a router bit but I haven't been able to find one with the same shape as what I have. Anyway, I'm hoping someone here can help me finding a place to buy just the pieces I need - instead of buying a whole new assembly

I can't quite grasp what you're looking for. can you provide some pictures?
is this a part that shows? does it need to be an exact replica? etc etc

If you look between the 2 pieces of wood, there is a little piece of wood that rides between them, and holds them together. Don't know what it's officially called but that's what I'm talking about. Of course, the ones between our extension slide are shaped a bit differently, but this can at least give you an idea of what I'm trying to replace.

I don't know, to me $20 seems cheap if it's the right part . having the tools to make one, and having the wood in stock , would take at least an hour to make one I imagine.

perhaps you can find an old table on local classifieds for the part, or another style of leaf extensions that you could retrofit to your table .

Here's another picture of the end of the slide with a similar piece in the middle (not the same shape - but again it shows the kind of piece I'm looking for). Other than calling it a "slide block', I'm not really what to call it?

Looks like a piece that could be cut with a dovetail bit. might take 4 passes (after a few trial passes to get the size right).
Actually with some ingenuity a table saw (some careful set up and some luck) might get it done.
As far as what to call it maybe search for spline or tongue.

if you're unable to find a manufacturer or anything, very likely you will have to have one custom made. either by yourself or if you can't, someone else.

If it split down the length you might consider gluing it.

Since the table is old, and this is a piece of hardwood rather than some manufactured metal hardware piece that was purchased by the table manufacturer, you're not likely to come across a drop-in replacement. Concentrate instead on how to best make a duplicate of what you had.

The cross sectional shape of such a piece, by the way, is called a "butterfly" or "bowtie". Often, larger pieces than this one are inlaid to repair a crack in a solid slab table.

Maybe you could 3D print a replacement, since it's going to be fairly invisible and wouldn't really compromise the table's appearance?

If you post pictures of your actual parts rather than similar parts you will get better answers. Do you have a table saw? Router table? Sounds like it would be pretty easy to make the part and then it would fit properly rather than some part that's close. For shapes that you can't easily find a cutter for it usually can be made with several passes of router bits or table saw.

That hardwood slider rail is custom fit to the extension track so you most likely won't find a replacement part. I suggest finding a cabinet shop or carpenter shop and show them what you need and they should be able to take your slider system apart and make a new slider rail.

If $20 is too steep you'd better sit down before getting quote from a cabinet maker lol. Seriously, I'd try gluing the old pieces back together or replace the whole slide don't think you'll have much luck finding a replacement that fits and the tooling needed to make a custom one will likely exceed the cost of replacement slides. Maybe see if you can find a similar table that's in rough shape at a local goodwill store and see if they'll sell you the hardware.
