I bought an Acme compressor from a friend of mine because he needed some cash and I needed a compressor. The manufactur date on it shows 1990. As far as I can tell it's a swan pump.

I decided to tear into it to see what it looked like inside before I put it into service. I'm glad I did because apparently my friend had not been taking care of it. It didn't have an air filter and was low on oil. There was a lot of paint and body dust build up inside the head and valve assemblies. Thankfully it seems to be a very well made pump and the cylinders and pistons are in great shape. No movement in the bearings.

I took everything apart to clean and lubricate, and the only problem I found was a broken intake valve spring on the second stage cylinder. I have contacted swan and they will not help me. I even told them I wanted to buy a valve spring for 2 compressors that were similar to mine. Mine looks identical to the current production pumps.

I know it will run in the current state but I dont want to put it back together with a cracked spring. It's a wave washer type spring. OD is about 7/8 and ID is a little over 3/8. Probably about 7/16.

I have searched all over the internet and unfortunately I cannot find anything. Acme is no longer in business. There has to be somewhere I can purchase another spring or even use a different style of spring.

Here are some pics. The smaller washer is the intake valve. The big wave washer is the exhaust valve spring.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. 9f51edba1a24909d9d7f733538ce913d.jpg98e75cd5c7e28707f06e4a1beae2b9d8.jpg119a640016ada08ba635254517d631c3.jpgdfede43c9429a0751f15cd7fa745d9df.jpg

I've looked there and a few other places. The only one that is close says 10lbs deflection. That seems high but I guess I could try it

Try finding a local Air Compressor Sales & Service company in your area. Most deal in parts and service for multiple manufacturers of air compressors.

Call or just go to their parts dept counter and they should be able to match it up. All you need is the make, model and serial number of the pump. Bring the part so they can match it.
