Hello,
About a week ago my old dayton compressor burnt up and I found another compressor to replace it.
Well today my dad brings me over another dayton that was at his work that hadn't run in a while. They told him the capacitors needed to be changed out (don't know why or how they know) so I figured I give it a shot.
It is a Dayton, 20 gallon. I believe it is a 5.5 hp (The horsepower rating says SPL on the plate on the motor, but on the take it says 5.5) The motor is a dayton model number 9TC52 (Which I can't find listed anywhere)
I check through grainger and I'm having trouble even finding the compressor on the lists they have. The compressor I have has a black tank with a dayton sticker on it. The model number is 4b228a. Grainger has nothing listed for it, but they do have a Speedaire by Dayton with a model number of 4b228d shown here. http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/rp...esc=5.5hp+Air+Compressor&supp=20002433&save=1
I believe they are the same model in a different skin, but I could be wrong. Both seem to have a 5.5 hp motor stamp on the tank and have the same specs on scfm.
Here is my problem. I opened the capacitor shields and they look to be replacement parts. The start capacitor says Philips on it with a big "For Motor Starting" It has 165 VAC listed and 60 HZ then there is a 3629617. This seems to mean nothing to google, and I can't get a hit anywhere else.
The run capacitor has even less on it. It is a gray canister with small print on it. It lists....
20UF
370V
50/60HZ
70c
AEROMES II
0615
This also seems to mean nothing to google or grainger.
I have never replaced capacitors on a compressors, and not really sure what to look for. I noticed some of them have the same ratings and am assuming they are interchangable and the only difference I am seeing are size dimensions.
Can anybody point me in the right direction before I just order one and give it a shot? Haha.
