Hello, many years ago I had a pliers that had a wide jaw, which was great for opening/closing spring clamps. I have no idea where I got them, nor what the name of them is, but I lost them and could really use that type of pliers. I don't think the wide jaw pliers that I had was specifically designed for working on spring clamps but it sure was effective. The flat jaws were just wide-enough to compress all 3 tabs of a typical spring clamp, but about the same weight as regular slip-joint pliers. As I look on the Amazon I see 8 inch flat jaw wide bill pliers which are similar but larger than the pliers that I had (see: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0796G9KTS/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Anyway, the pliers I had were really about the same a regular slip-joint pliers except that it had a about 1-1/2 inches wide jaw on the end (probably just a couple of flat pieces of metal welded on on the jaw). The pliers I had looked like Canvas stretching pliers, but again smaller and the pliers were all metal. Maybe someone here can point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.

Here are a few options which resemble traditional pliers (not the bowden cable style remote hose clamp pliers):

Snap On HCP48CF $46

CS Osborne makes a handful for leather and upholstery applications.

CS Osborne's plier lineup:

Here are the stretching pliers that might suit you:

CS Osborne no. 251 "stretching" pliers (short jaw)

They (CSO) also make a bunch of different duckbill pliers. All of their duckbill pliers and cantle pliers would work, and they are available in serrated jaw or smooth jaw depending on what you prefer.

Also, KTC (Kyoto Tool Co) makes some cool "hose clamp pliers" which are pretty specific (not sure if they'd be handy for anything else)

HAZET (Germany) offers a pair that are specific to 3-prong spring clamps

Finally, ultimategarage.com sells some FACOM ones that look like some nice grippers.

Let us know if any of these are what you had in mind.

6" CT Pliers (CT = Crescent Tool) from back when are likely what you had. I've seen them in several different small town South Dakota (10-15 thousand) hardware stores less than 4 years ago. 8" diameter bucket sitting on the check-out counter. The jaws were 15-20% wider than typical HF, HD, Lowes ...

Really not sure if the ones Amazon sells are still the same thing. Ebay probably has vintage ones.

If money is no object, Snap-on use to have similar back in the 70s.

Most any lines mans pliers have wide enough jaws, but I never liked them as well.

From what I'm reading, you need those KTC pliers that are pictured in this thread. Those are the easiest and most efficient hose clamp pliers that I have.

Hello everyone & thanks for all the suggestions! The pliers pictured above that most closely resembles the pliers I had is the Osborn #251, which I believe are leather stretching pliers. Anyway. it has given me an idea of what is out there now/available to help me out. If I ever do find a picture of exactly what I am referring to, I will post it. Thanks again everyone & stay safe!
