I have a Matco 14.4v infinium (lithium-ion) 3/8 cordless impact. lately i'm not feeling it have the power that i think it ought to given the specs on it. now, it's a well used gun i bought used for $75. my friend has a new snap on ct4410a which isn't rated as powerful as this one that seems to do a much better job. so this brings in my questions: how can i test this battery to see if it has a problem or not? on the motor, i've pulled the brushes and they are fine; is there something else i should look for? could the impact mechanism be weak (i can put a socket on it and grab it pretty tight and pull the trigger and hold it steady while the gun impacts and it doesn't seem to slip).
i'm a little leary of sending it off to be rebuilt or buy a new battery because i found a place on line that has a reconditioned milwaukee 3/8 18v impact with two batteries and a light for $200 which is only a few bucks more than either a new battery or getting this one repaired. but i just want to make sure there is nothing i can do for this matco gun before i condemn it to the life of fluid pan bolts and buy the milwaukee.
