Looking for a little help getting a discontinued Craftsman middle tool box from a Sears Outlet store in Crystal Lake Illinois to Ohio.

Long story short good old Sears has discontinued there Premium Heavy Duty tool box line. I purchesed a bottom cabinet for my son for his birthday and when I went looking for the top and middle chests for Christmas I was told they are discontinued and my best chance is finding one on a store floor or the Sears outlet stores. I was able to find an upper chest but the middle box is no where to be found local.

The closest to me is in Crystal Lake Illinois (425 miles away). I called the store and the manager says he can't ship it. There is a FedEx pack and ship a couple blocks away from the store and they won't drop it off there either... Ugh

Any chance there's anyone here that's local and willing to help me out?

Are you just looking for someone who can grab the toolbox and take it to the Fedex nearby? You'd probably have a much better chance if the title was "Need Help Moving Tool Box 3/4 of a Mile in Crystal Lake IL". I was figuring you wanted someone to drive it all that way.

That manager is an oxygen thief. He could make it happen. He just doesn't give a damn...hence the demise of the Sears chain

Would be much cheaper to use shipping from Fastenal store to another Fastenal store.

See if a GJer can put the toolbox on a pallet and take to Fastenal store.

Is it already in it's shipping box? Does it weigh <125 lbs?

All the shipping carriers do pick up. Just prepay the store and then call your shipper of choice and have them pick it up.

No; These Sears Outlet stores are unique places. They are true outlets and not what we've come to see at "outlet malls" by the side of the highway. Miscellaneous stock is dumped in a big warehouse and left there. (There's lots of one-off big things like tool chests, appliances, furniture, etc.) Doing deals isn't as easy as it should be, but the pieces are usually deeply discounted. (I recall the toolboxes are generally 50%+ off.)

The deal is that you have to go there with your own truck and get it. They don't have a staff to ship things freight and even finding someone to help loading your truck can be a challenge - so take the wife with you!

Is this a 26" wide, 12 or 18" deep box with BB slides ? Red with red or charcoal drawers? or completely black ?

Or is this thing a 40" single drawer ?

If you can find someone to pick the box up and take it to a shippers, try taking it to a Fastenal and have them ship it. Fastenal is cheaper than FedEx or UPS when it comes to shipping. As long as it fits on a skid, they can ship it.

It's a 26x18 " Premium Heavy Duty " all black grip latch drawers and takes the round style key...

Ugh...

Something new like Über for stuff called Roadie. I plan to sign up as a driver. Works through your credit card and smart phone. Offers insurance, but the idea is if you are already going from point a to b do you have room for someone's stuff? Looks ideal for this type of item. Example, would fit in the back of my Ridgeline and I might make gas money.

Call the FedEx store and speak to someone with a brain. They'll get it & ship it.

Hey I just signed up to try and help. I have been lurking on this forum for about 5 years. I am 20 miles from Crystal Lake if there is a way I can help let me know. I may even be willing to deliver it halfway. I also can put it on a pallet at work and ship it if that works.
