I just found this thing on Craigslist. Does anybody know if this is a decent brand? It's a 30 gallon 120 volt but I'm not sure how much air it puts out.

I know this is vague I'm just trying to see if it's worth looking at. He's asking $200 but that seems a little steep.

It looks somewhat like my BelAire compressor but I do not think it is one. I am with rustyjames on this one, looks american made & heavy duty. I do not think $200 is steep. I paid $150 for my BelAire. Go look at it.

Well the guy messaged me back and said he would take 150. I had a guy with a craftsman professional 25 gallon (also belt drive) but after agreeing to meet me 3 times he backed out.

This general is closer to home so I'm definitely gonna check it out.

Well he just said it's a 1/2 hp. Not sure that will cut it. There are no cfm ratings on the machine either.

Looks like a pretty small 1 lunger, combined with a 1/2 HP doesn't equal much air. I'd look for at least 1 HP and 2 cyl, which would still be awful small, as air compressors go.

Yeah once he told me 1/2 hp I noticed how small the pump was. I think I'm gonna keep on looking.

I'm tempted to just go buy a harbor freight 21 gallon with a 2 year warranty.

I'd keep looking for a general shop compressor. That was probably used for a fire suppression system or HVAC control. If you want to fill up tires and blow things off, sure, but I wouldn't want it for general work.

Well thanks guys for all the response. I did find that website earlier but I think the smallest tank listed on there was like 200 gallons.

Anyway yeah my intent is to use a compressor for airing tires, using an impact and ratchet, and a little finish nailer. I realize that with my small budget ($250) I'm not going to be painting a car or running a sander. I just need a 20-30 gallon and frankly that's all I have room for. Also I am limited to 110v power, I posted a thread about that so I won't go into detail.

I'd probably only use it 1 or 2 tines a month, but I could see myself possibly finding more things to do with it. For that reason though I am considering a new oil less vs buying an old used one. I know the oil less are louder and don't last as long but for a couple times a month does it matter that much?

When I either move or build a shop I'll go for a 60 gal but maybe the oil less would get me by until then.
