I picked up this Grizzly 6" jointer and need help with the model number. It is not written anywhere obvious. It's definitely a 6". The table is 46-1/2" long. All it says on the nameplate is Made in Taiwan. The stickers on the side were put there by the previous PO, not the PO I bought it from. They are "86L6-069".

It might be close to the G0814, but that one has one handle and a handwheel instead of 2 long handles under it. I tried looking on the Grizzly website, but they just have numbers in the manual section, not a description. I'm clicking on all the G8xxx ones, but I see that Grizzly doesn't seem to have a numbering system other than just numbering the tools in random order instead of by type.

Anyone know what this is? Any other suggestions for determining the model number?

Thanks!

I'd contact them directly. I have before and they were super knowledgeable / helpful. They still stock almost every part for my limited edition bandsaw that was only sold for a couple years back in mid 90s. May also be the same for you.

I found it! I did a search for "6 inch grizzly jointer" and selected images. I looked until I found one that looked like mine and was able to determine that it's a G1182. The knives are G6697.

Ya know, I thought about doing just that, but what would I tell them? There's nothing on it with a model number, but there are parts with part numbers. I suppose I coulda sent 'em a photo.

It's nice that they stock parts for older machines.

Oh, one other thing I found that might be of interest: the green stickers are apparently original. They supposedly denote the year, type of machine and sequential number of machines made that day, but I'm not sure what the "L" in mine means. Other machines had a "J" for jointer.

There's an email address at that link so I was figuring that you could have sent them pictures.
I'm glad you were able to get it sorted though.

I called once about a drill press that had lost all its stickers. I got transfered to a woman who asked a couple questions about it (like, what's the power swtich look like? which color is the belt cover), who gave a model number. And sold me a replacement speed chart sticker, which is what I was trying to figure out. I don't know kf she knew the details of machines, of if they had a script for it.

She may have had a sheet with the Answers To Frequently Asked Questions.
