Got a handful of older tools today and this was mixed in. Not sure who may have made it and just trying to get some info. It is a 7/8", has the number 2038 on it and the backed say "Forged in USA". If anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate it,
Al

Well it only has the markings I mentioned so I couldn't track it to them. I'll do some more research and see if I can discover anything. The relief on the open end is pretty unusual (at least to me) so I thought it would be recognizable to someone. Thanks for the help

Well billymade called it. Looks to be an Duro/Indestro. Found a similar one using his lead on the Alloy Artifacts page. Mine doesn't say Duro-Chrome as their 2037 does but otherwise identical. ca. 1942-1945.

I think I have seen Duro Chrome or Indestro wrenches like that.

It's a Duro-Chrome. I picked a 7/8", 2036 at a pawn shop a while back for 25cents. It has Duro-Chrome on the opposite site. I really like the look/style of the wrench but the beams pretty thin. Because it's lightweight, I believe that they were not made for indrustrial work.

It is lightweight perhaps because of the steel shortage during WWII.

I don't think so. It wouldn't make much sense to cheap out on tools that fueled and built the victory weapons in the "Arsenal for democracy."
