Have this fitting that came out of a water tank heater used for cattle and am not having any luck finding one like it. The straight part is 1/2" fine thread and the other end is 3/8 flare I think. All I can find are NPT ends.
I think it came off of a old Johnson Control thermostat.
Any ideas on what this fitting is called so I can search for it? Last resort I could make one.

Randy

Wow, that is kind of a pickle there, usually anything with a flare end will have a flare/compression/pipe fitting on the other end...

Over here....
Might have to break out the mini-lathe and find a fitting to turn down and thread :(

Randy

I've had to do just that.

Is this fitting straight thru or does it have a metering orifice?

Look trough this Parker Hannifin catalog.

Has a 3/16" straight through hole.
Not sure if that matters or not.

Is there a "negative bevel" around the threads where I have indicated with an arrow?
It looks like it would have an o-ring there.
With straight threads, there has to be some kind of sealing device involved at that point.

One of these might be a good replacement:

Thats the closest thing I have seen yet.
No, it is threaded all the way down to the flat "nut"

sorry, i should have typed the imperial fitting was jic. If you ever find one in a catalog, it will cast you $50.00 with shipping. I would either use an adapter to pipe or tap the 1/2 x20 with a pipe tap. good luck

Thanks everyone for helping me search for this.
I should be able to make something work. Last resort is to replace the thermostat with a more modern one.
