I'm in the process of rebuilding an older 1hp Century Electric Motor. Here is the link to that rebuild for further details: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=311993

However I've come to a snag in the tear down. After removing the capacitor off the motor, I cannot find any specs on it. I wish to purchase a new one since I don't know if the old one is running 100%. The motor did run prior to the tear down. As you can see below both the capacitor and case/cover are in poor condition.

Can anyone tell me how to determine the Microfarad range for this type motor and a suitable cover? The motor specs are as follow:
CENTURY, CODE: H
SINGLE PHASE MOTOR
MODEL: CSN-207-BA6-5EA
HP: 1, RPM: 1750
CY: 60, VOLTS: 115/230, AMPS: 12/6
40 DEG. CONT. OPEN, SERIAL NO.: Z1
CENTURY ELECTRIC CO., ST. LOUIS, M

Any help figuring the correct capacitor or how I can do it myself would greatly appreciated. Thanks-David

I have two 14 gal. totes full of capacitors in my service truck. Is there someone in your neck of the woods who works on motors. I would start with 216-259 250 volt and see what happens. If the motor starts kinda slow put a bigger one on or add another to the first one. If you parallel them you just keep adding the micro farads the voltage stays the same.

The last time I had one of those, a big grinder, that didn't work I went to the local mom n pop ac electric shop. $17 later they had me on my way. They have the testers to find what you need and it only took a couple minutes. Cheap, fast, done[emoji3]
