That is the infamous hammer that installs square pegs in round holes. :lol:

It is missing the plastic/rubber endcaps.
I think you can still buy them.

You know, the thought has crossed my mind but this hammer head is way smaller than the soft tip hammer. Unless they made a mini version?
Sorry for not putting a ruler in the picture. The head is about 2-1/2" long.

Yep, plastic face hammer. Usually they have a round boss to press the faces onto. This is the first I've seen with square.

I think you guys are right. Craftsman does have the smaller 8oz. soft hammer to go with the 12oz. I forgot about that. And maybe these style tips aren't screwed on like I thought.
