Need Help Identifying Floor Jack

Hey all. I'm newly registered here, although I have been lurking in and out of GJ for quite a few years. I don't know why I haven't joined GJ in the past since everything discussed here is right up my alley. Just lazy I guess. But anyway, I joined today to hopefully get some help with a floor jack I'm starting to rebuild. Hopefully, I'll be able to offer some sound advice to others on their projects, as well.

So, I have this floor jack that needs rebuilt. I've rebuilt jacks in the past, but I knew what they were. This one stopped going up altogether, although its been acting up for quite some time. There is oil residue all over it, so it has been leaking for quite some time. The sticker identifying the maker of the jack has been long gone. There are no markings or stampings anywhere on the chassis of the jack or even on the valve block or oil reservoir. It's a large rectangular valve block, single pumper. I'm very sure its an import, since all the bolts seem to be metric. It's a heavy son of a gun. I think it's an older import. I don't know the capacity of it, either, because the sticker was gone when I got it.

I've been going through the hundreds of drawings on Lazzar's website hoping to spot my jack from his drawings, but no luck yet. There are a lot of different manufacturers for sure.

Hopefully, I'll be able to include some pictures in the hope that someone can help identify the maker of the jack.

It has the original red paint on it and it has a white 2 piece handle.

The top cap of the reservoir doesn't have an o-ring in it, but rather a seal (see picture). Also, there is no o-ring on the piston. It's a plastic seal (see picture). Or maybe its one of those u-cups. It seems hard to me. Maybe these attributes can help identify the manufacturer. Also, there are screws that seal the working valve and overload valve ports. I have a lot of it disassembled, but haven't disassembled either the working or overload valves, yet.

I might have to get seals, etc off the Internet. In my town, there really aren't any options for hydraulic shops that I am aware. Just like the electronics components stores, I think they all closed up. There is a Grainger's, though, nearby.

I know this may be asking a lot to help identify a jack just by looking at a few pictures and with limited information, but any help in identifying the manufacturer is greatly appreciated. If any other info is needed, just ask.

Thanks
Tony

Thanks. Is that a USA made jack? I think mine is imported because of the metric bolts.

Anyway, I went to 5 different hydraulic related supply-type businesses in my area and none were able to help me. The biggest problem seems to be the can style wiper for the pump piston. It apparently is metric. It measures 26 mm OD, 18 mm ID, and 6mm depth. The rubber had let loose from the metal can and was lifting up when pumping the jack. The other part that I'm having trouble locating is the U-cup seal on the cylinder piston.
I haven't had any luck online, either. I didn't think obtaining a couple small seals and a wiper would be such a PITA for this jack.

I have one like that in the shop, i'll look and see if there is a label. I'm sure its a cheap import because I probably bought it in high school or college. it has served me well....

To me, it looks imported as well, probably 1980s-early 1990s vintage, Taiwan-made. Good luck finding parts.

You can get a replacement for this jack at Costco or HF for $100 or less if you decide to throw in the towel on it. I used to repair stuff like this, but with globalization happening, it has gotten so much more difficult to repair off-brand equipment such as this and it isn't worth my time (plus I have much less free time now with two kids).

I would search other jack threads here as I seem to recall reading about a few hydraulic shops scattered around the country who maintain parts for hydraulic jacks.

That looks like a early 1990s vintage Harbor Freight 2 1/2 Ton floor jack. I recently junk one just like it I bought in 1990.

Sorry, I was remembering my high school buddies jack, not the one I still have. That was in the eighties. I remember using the white handle as a good cheater pipe so you still have that as an option for yours

I don't think H freight was around there and then but "tool King" might have been

I might have found the metal encapsulated can wiper on ePAY. Maybe the cylinder cup seal , too, but I have to remeasure it first. O-rings, obviously, were not a problem. There may be hope for this jack, yet. If I can keep the cost to fix under $15, it will be worth it.

I think its bigger than that, just going by what I have lifted with it and the size of the cylinder piston. I think at least a 3 1/2 tonner.

It appears to be a Taiwanese jack from 25-30 years ago. Why even mess with it? I'd buy a new jack at Costco before getting that. If you are going to go vintage, get a US-made Lincoln or Hein-Warner - you get better quality, plus you can get replacement parts for it.

Can someone help me identify this floor jack? It doesn't have a typical o-ring. It's kind of like a cone shaped seal. I'd like to find a replacement seal if possible.

Edit: Well hell. I need 5 posts to post images...

I don't know if this is common, but here in Rochester, NY, which isn't a huge city, there is a place that deals in "O-rings", seals, and similar components. The people there are absolute wizards, I have taken in really off-beat seals, rings, and things like that, and they have always been able to find something which will replace my bad part.

Toledo isn't much different than Rochester, perhaps there is a similar store there. If not, email me, and I'll send back the store info.
