Need help identifying please

Just want to say thanks to everyone on this site. The info and insight shared is greatly appreciated. I don't know if this is the correct place to post this(i'm a noob.) But i just picked this up for 80 bucks. It has a 3/4hp Westinghouse Electric corp. ac motor on it, I disassembled for cleaning, The previous owner said that the pulley needed to be changed to a smaller diameter. It would bog down after about 50psi. If anyone can confirm what model this compressor is and what electric motor and pulley is needed to run. I would be in great gratitude. So far the closest thing i've found, and i've been searching the net for days, is a 20 gallon model 20cv20p, with a compressor model cv1, and it had a 2hp doerr electric motor on it. So i'm getting ready to reassemble the electric motor. On the back side of the lubrication instructions plate is a diagram for wire/ locations. The pic is how it is wired, the hand written part is what is on the plate. Doesn't correspond to one another. there is also other wire instructions that are a bit "rusted" on spots and not able to read. But from what i can read, it states: To reverse(i can read rever, guessing reverse is it) *i cant make out what the next info says* interchange(i can make out rchange, guessing interchange) red & black. *cant make out this portion here either* connect L2 to ground ??? line when motor has thermal protection.

IDK what that means exactly, but i can't locate any external manual reset button/switch on/around the electric motor. Without that, this shouldn't be associated with thermal protection correct?

Sorry, I know notta about electrical. I cut/push metal for my day job. I got this to use for blow drying components for disassembled firearms. I really don't want to screw it up and catch my WaR(whoop *** room, as my woman calls it) on fire if at all possible. I'd be bummed if i incinerated some of my bang bang tools.

cbc - if it is bogging down the motor is probably shot. My suggestion is you find some or a shop that works on electric motors and have them test it. They usually test for free that way when they tell you its bad they are the first to quote you a new motor. Some may even be able to repair depending on the motor. Two horse is a little lite for an air compressor. Most are 3.5 continuous hp.

this is the motor, unfortunatly i cant even locate anything on it. besides the fz model. I'm guessing its a stand in for saling. I took it apart and blew it out real good, fresh coat of rustoleum flat black. Any tips on lining the belt up?

Years ago, I had what looks like this same compressor. It was sold by Montgomery Ward and was built by Speedair I believe. Mine was rated as a one horse compressor and worked for me great for many years. I gave it to my Son in Law and he still has it and uses it for a spare compressor in his barn.

Unless your in a rush I would look for a 1 1/2 or 2 hp motor to replace it. check with a heat and air guy for an old motor out of a home cooling system. Just remember you want the same shaft and speed.

Any 56 frame electric motor will drive it. if you find a 3450 motor then go with a 2" shive.

3/4 horse is small for that compressor. I would run a 2hp motor. 3hp even better.
