Need help identifying snapon toolbox

Hello all,
I'm new here. I came across this site while trying to research an old Snapon toolbox my dad left me.
Can anyone tell me the model or year of manufacture of this toolbox set? There are no stamped numbers that I can find anywhere on either piece. Went to the Snapon site and looked at old pics/catalogs but I couldn't find any that matched exactly. K-55R was close for the top and RK-50 R for the base maybe. Also KT-1R for the tray? Maybe 1940's? Any help is appreciated, thank you.

I’m sorry you haven’t received a reply here. I know for a fact there’s a lot more knowledgeable people than me all over this place.

However just in case you haven’t tracked down the answers yet and another thread, like the Old Snap-on Toolbox thread for example, I’ll tell you what I know from what I see here.

First off, Snap-on started dating their boxes sometime around the end of the 1940s or the beginning of the 1950s. Anything older than that won’t have a date code. Your boxes are both older than the late 1940s. The shape of the badge on the top box indicates that it might be early 1940s. I believe in the 1950s they switched to a rectangular badge. The early 1930s badges were the same basic shape but thinner top to bottom. I have a more “modern” version were the front panel is attached to the lid and the whole thing swings up and out of the way when you open it. Rectangular badge, no date code.

My guess is that these are somewhere between the late 1930s in the mid-1940s.
Now if you want to find specifics, I would get into those old catalogs and you can probably track it down from there.

Snap On began dating in 1955/56.

What you have here is a late 1940s K55R top box and what looks like a 2 drawer K77W roller bench from the same era.

What can you tell me about my “new” Craftsman tombstone 6520?
Here are the clues:
Crown badge on lid.
Handle shackles are mounted from the inside of the lid.
I think the handle is solid aluminum.
Tote tray is partitioned into three sections. Middle section has typical socket organizer.

Yea, that's pretty common here. They sign up looking for info on things they want to flip. I answer the threads hoping that a tool collector turns up the info in a search for answers.

I can tell you that they used to be as common as blades of grass but now they are starting to vanish like everything else. I can also tell you that the crown logo was used from 1960 to 1973.

Okay, so that would fit with my (my father’s) V-selector ratchets and =v= sockets then?
It seems like a perfect light/medium duty box. Not too big and not too small.

I try to avoid getting upset about things that are not my problem or beyond my control.

I don’t mind helping people. Even if they’re total strangers.
If the original poster is beyond help, the information may still help someone in the future.
Similar to what The Horse posted above.

That way I get what I want, to help someone (anyone), and it doesn’t matter what the original poster does or does not do. My joy is not dependent on the actions of a total stranger.
That attitude makes things a lot smoother for me.
