Hey Guys!

I need some help with components I'm not quite certain about.

Due to some extremely fortunate circumstances, I was able to obtain a Doall D-6 Hydraulic Surface grinder for $225. Here is a picture of the beast!

When I picked it up, it was demonstrated that it did work flawlessly...except for one thing. In order to start the grinder, and keep it working, a certain (I'll call it a switch for lack of a better understanding) was held in the 'On' position by pushing a screwdriver up in to it, to hold it up.

Here is a picture of the piece, the 'OFF' slides up where it would be switched to 'ON' but the arrow pointing to the black plastic is where the screwdriver would be inserted from below and hold that 'switch' up. I did Google Allen Bradley 505 AOD, and while I can find a replacement, I'm not sure IT is whats faulty, and got no real explanation as to what it does....to know if its malfunctioning.

I'm unsure what piece I need to replace so that this is not necessary, as I REALLY don't want to continue the trend!

Here is a close up of what I'm fairly certain is a fuse that is connected to that 'switch'.

So please, any explanation as to what this piece is, and or what the problem is so I can fix it, would be wonderful.

Thanks!

There is a wire missing on the coil the thing that says 115-120v 60hz. That is an electro magnetic coil that pulls the contacts together. There needs to be two wires to the coil, when you supply that with 120 volts the contactor starts the motor, you are mechanically pushing it closed with the screwdriver.
