Hello all, anyone care to help a lady out? I recently purchased 8 tools boxes full of stuff and I don’t know what some of this stuff is. I will post pictures and number them so you can just respond with what it is and hopefully tell me what it does, how to use it. If you see something you want and I have no need for it, pm me. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me.

1. These measure something but no idea what or how to use them. The little nubs on each end are all different sizes.

On #2, do the handles unscrew from the discs? I'm thinking thread gauges, with the handle having the male thread and the disc the female thread?

#5 looks like a tool to set valve lash, loosen the 3/4" lock nut with 1 handle, use the other to set the lash, then lock it back down with the 3/4".

Ref. #3. Ah yes, the cutting wheels were so corroded I didn’t even see them.
Ref. #2. Yes, the handles unthread. Now I understand. You unthread them and use them separately to measure the male and female sides.
Ref #5. Gotta be the transmission thing, the guy we got the tools from was a ****** mechanic.

Thanks guys!

10. They say ZT on them. They are spring loaded closed and you must spread them out to open them. The tips have little grooves in them. They must hold something with a special shape.

Post 14 looks like a stud remover / installer

Post 18 is for tightening smaller bands used on things like CV joints and such

Post 20 is a metal band cutter for the kind they use strapping a load to the pallet.

Thanks for all the help everyone! I edited the pics that were identified so people don't have to scroll to through if they would like to know the answer.

I don't think #1 is a transfer hole punch. The nubs are rounded and not pointy.

Here are a couple more pics.

#13 I know these aren't walnut crushers...

Haha, looks like a nut cracker. Twertsy has one on the Archives. Oil delivery sleeve ring compressor. Maybe he can point you to the catalog.

Not exactly for breaking glass - for trimming very small amounts - the term of art is "grodzing". Used for stained, leaded glass work trimming for tight fit in intricate patterns.

Used also to 'break' glass when using a glass cutter to score a line. The notched feature keeps the jaw from contacting the material as you snap off the cut piece. I used to have so-so results cutting glass at home. I once watched a pro up close, and saw immediately how his pliers made tool-material contact less likely.

We live in a 90 year old home with original windows that have distorted glass. Manufacturing processes changed, and now glass is perfectly flat. Glass shops sell 'wavy glass' to best match. It is some pricey ****! This is what drove me to learn myself (when replacing multiple panes that a prior owner had used flat glass on. (You can really notice the difference, especially from a distance, and it just doesn't look right to have both in one window). So, I bought a single piece of wavy glass, and now cut glass like a pro (a mediocre pro).

Another example of the right tool for the job

I can't say I will ever use them in the way they were meant, but I am sure I will use them improperly! Thanks for all the help.

Next to my house...
I used something almost exactly like #12 in a warehouse to cut steel packing straps off crates and such. Don't know it that's it's intended purpose though. :D

P.S. I feel really dumb that I had to make my first post here because I couldn't find the introductions thread thing. Can anyone point me in the right direction? (I'm about as technologically illiterate as it gets)
