Need help identifying vintage tool cart? SOLVED!
Hello Friends,
I recently purchased a couple of side (tool) boxes from CL, and this cool utility cart came with them. I would like to semi-restore this cart using it as a testbed for my other projects. I have no idea what it is used for, or what brand it is.
When I first looked it over, "Motor Oil Display" came to mind. After looking at it more closely, that idea didn't make as much sense. For instance, the handles on top, and the obvious pass through hole for cables.
Here are the clues:
It measures 34 1/2h x 22w x 18d
Under the layers of red, blue, and black paint the original hammered medium blue color shows.
There is a vinyl decal on the right side, but I don't know hot to remove the paint without damaging it. The outline of the decal is clear.
The top shelf is gusseted underneath with angled steel but the gusset is close to the front of the cabinet, not in the center where you would expect.
A 2" hole is punched through the top and second shelf right rear.
Originally the second shelf was removable.
The chrome bar at the bottom was added later.
The bottom shelf is open in the rear as well as the front.
The swivel casters are heavily gusseted.
The hard rubber wheels are labeled "BASSICK USA".
I hope the Members of Garage Journal can help me with this one.
If all else fails, it will be re painted blue, and labeled as "SUN Equipment".
Ben.
