Need help identifying wood stove

Fellas,

Can one of you tell me anything about this stove?

The only markings I see on the castings are on the top.

I have no idea what manufacturer built it and I also have no idea of its value.

I agree that it is a coal unit. Wood fire boxes are generally broader to accommodate the wood. Coal units get a good long burn with a vertical bed. Filled with concrete they make great boat anchors.

My first thought was also coal. I grew up burning wood and my mom still has an old potbelly wood stove in her basement. None of the woodburners that I remember looked like that.

So if it’s coal burner, can I use it as a makeshift forge?
