I have a free 1995-vintage ToolStar 10" chop/miter saw Model R255. This thing looks like a tank compared to the modern plastic models.

I'd like to use this as a chop saw for steel bar stock and save my newer one for wood chopping.

Anyway, The Arbor nut is gone from it, and I'd like to find a replacement. It dont know much about these, but I can tell its 5/8" and left-hand.

Is there a standardized thread pitch for these, or can someone help my determine the pitch I'm looking for from this picture?

Thanks

Toolstar sounds Asian, if that is the case it is most likely metric, 16MM. If that's the case, use the other side of your scale and read the pitch directly.

Looks like a standard thread, as opposed to an acme thread like a lot of arbors are, so in that respect you probably lucked out.

I'm guessing 5/8-18 LH just because that's pretty standard but others here might be better able to tell by looking at your pic.

Do you have the flange/collar/washer or do you need that too?

It's made in Taiwan. Here's what the mm side looks like. It's hard to tell, my guess is 1.5mm or 18 tpi... I

was hoping there's a standard.

I could be wrong but I think M16-1.5 and 5/8-18 are the same, or at least close enough.

I say that just because the threads on my Craftsman slide hammer (also sold under Gearwrench and OTC brands & probably others too - priced/compared them all and bought Craftsman because it was on sale) are listed as M16-1.5 in the spec sheet that came with it, as does GearWrench's I believe (or so I read in a review), but OTC lists theirs as 5/8-18, and regardless they all accept all the same standard 5/8-18 slide hammer attachments from all brands. I have a Matco slide hammer attachment and several OTC 5/8-18 attachments that I use on my supposedly M16-1.5 Craftsman.

While you're at it, order a thread pitch gauge as well. They (obviously) come in supr handy around the shop, and the import ones are quite cheap!
