I wonder if anyone knows the brand and approximate year of this 1/2 "drill. My dad passed it on to me and he doesn't remember what it was. Also, any tips on keeping these old drills running?

Thanks everyone for pointing me in the right direction. By a stroke of luck i found someone selling vintage ads on evilbay, and the B&D from 1962 ad looks real similar to mine. $75 in '62 is about $450 in todays money.:shocking:

AS far as maintenance take the front off of it and check the lube on the gear train behind the chuck. The grease in there is probably hard and gone. Clean it out and regrease, oil the bushings, check the brushes and replace if necessary. A small amount of oil on the chuck will not hurt either.

You have to real careful with those metal case power tools. Alot of them weren't double insulated so you could get a helluva a shock it the wiring in them shorts out.
