Looking for a new jack. My hand down 20+ year old jack finally failed. :willy_nil

My truck is is only 3000lbs and my wifes car is bout the same.

Has anyone used the hf pittsburgh rapid pump 1.5ton racing jack? Have a coupon for $60. Any good? Or any recommendations. Weekend warrior here. Quality wanted but i dont need a pricey jack.
thx in advance.

The only jack from HF I would buy if I were buying would be the 2 ton low profile. It gets good reviews and has a max lift of something like 23". It's double your budget when it's on sale. If you just want to get a car in the air then sears has a decent 2.25 ton jack that goes on sale for close to $30 around holidays. Or patiently watch craigslist. You can try putting a want ad on craigslist also, sometimes that works well.

BTW I'm not saying the 1.5 rapid pump from HF is bad, I'm just saying the 2 ton low profile is the one I would buy if I went with HF.

I've had the 1.5 ton aluminum racing jack for something like 10 years, liked it so much I recently got another one to replace a terrible old steel Sears jack that finally gave out. It's indestructible and I've been putting it in the back of the Porsche to take to the track all its life. Much much much more convenient (even just for dragging around the driveway) than a steel jack. Have some kind of "heavy duty" steel jack at work and it's just an annoyance, I can't for the life of me figure out why anybody lifting less than 3000 pounds would use anything else.

I really like the options on the 2t low profile. It's low but has a high lift, t-handle style jack handle, knob to let the jack down that combined with the ujoint instead of a star gear, make it let down very controlled. It's a good jack.
