Ok, I need some tips here. Does anyone know how to give new galvanized sheet metal an aged look? Older galvanized seems to have been darker, and had bigger spangle (flakes) of zinc than the shiny new stuff. I'm going for an aged/antique/ rusty look on a few projects....

Make sure you have galvanized and not galvalume. I have a file holder that my friend made using both. When new they look similar but the galvanized has much bigger "flakes"

I know you can order galvanized in no spangle small med and large. Some of which will determine how dark the material is.. But if you want to make rusty
why use galvanized?
