OK, guys, I’m looking for your collective wisdom on this.
My 40’x40’ slab is done. I want to put some sort of concrete sealer on it before the building goes up. This coating would be just for easy clean-up of spills, not for making the floor looking like a NASCAR garage. This is going to be my workshop so keep that in mind.
I’ve read enough threads about epoxy floor coatings to make me dizzy. Besides, none of those are in my price range since I have the electrical portion to pay for next. IOW, I’d rather put the money toward a 2-post lift vs. a ‘pretty floor’. Sure a pretty floor would be nice, but I don’t have money for that in this year’s budget.
To my point, would using this Quickcrete Wet Look High Gloss Sealer be worth it for what I’m trying to do? It’s basically just a water sealer type deal, but thatr is all I really need. The price at Lowes is $114 for a 5-gallon container. According to the label, 1 gallon covers 200-400 SF depending on how porous the surface is. Maybe one container would do it, but if not, I can afford to buy two.
Also according to the label the concrete needs to cure for 60 days before application. Mine currently sits at 8 days. The building should go up in about three weeks so I’d _like_ to get it done before then, but it’s not a deal breaker if you guys think it would be best to wait.
One more question is the method of application. This stuff is as thin as water so it can be applied by roller, brush, or even a garden sprayer. I’m leaning toward the garden sprayer for the shear ease of use. Thoughts on the method?
