Well, let me start off that I am a helicopter mechanic and will mainly use the light for inspections up close, so I would guess I need something that floods well.

Is Streamlight a good brand?

Streamlight is a very good brand. A favourite among aviation mechanics. I'd reccomend a Streamlight Stylus Pro if you want something small with a good output and fairly large lit area. I have one and use it constantly at work. The original batteries lasted me 5 weeks of daily use.

I have Bluepoint(freedom light) cordless LED drop lights both at work and in my home shop.I really like them, they have a good dispersion pattern and the lighting does not obscure colours like some other lights.I thought the first one was a little pricey but I ended up liking it so much that I bought the second for at home.

I have an LED rechargable cordless trouble light from Mac (not sure who makes it for them) and I love that thing. A little pricey but it's a small price to pay for no cord to snag/trip on/not reach IMO

I personally use fenix lights when working. L2T is my primary work light, P2D is my backup. Both rock solid.

I will recommend the streamlight also. It comes with a charger and 2 batteries. I use it all day and when the battery dies I just trade it out. I'm about to buy another one for my house. I think I payed 129.00

I second the Streamlight stylus Pro. I started with the normal stylus and it was a good light, but wanted a little more light. I bought the stylus pro and what a difference, and i can still slide it into my pocket so it is always there when i need it.

Is that a Mega lower?

ETA: Surefire and Streamlight are definitely the kings of flashlights, but I've picked up some cheap "NEBO" LED flashlights, and they seem pretty damned solid.

The smaller, 8-LED white light:

I've had one of these in my bag for the last year, and it still works great (and I throw it around everywhere). The laser pointer has came in incredibly handy for directing contractors to where I'm referring to...

I just snagged one of these cheaply:

It was gimmicky cool.

Local NAPA stores are selling these. I want to get the goofy UV one:

Yes. My ffl sells them blank without the Mega logo. I take it the gator grip tipped you off?

Yup yup! Didn't know if anyone else was doing the gator-grip bit on their lowers or not.

So, no big logo on the side? What's the price for a stripped on, out of curiosity?

I too have a Streamlight Stylus Pro, and while it is an excellent light, it might not be suited for everyday use. It's not really a task light as its beam is a bit too tight.
