Ok fellas I have about 600 sq ft that needs covering. I have looked at lowes and found the rustoleum and the quikrete products (are they any count) Im just looking to spruce up the garage. Not looking for a showroom industrial grade floor, just something that looks good and can stand up to the occasion oil change and minor car mods. Im not gonna be running a mechanic shop or anything LOL. Something decently priced. Dont really wanna spend over 2 or 300 bucks. I have heard of some stuff from sherwin williams aswell. Any thoughts on that stuff? Let me know what you guys think. Whats my best option. Also what about VCT tiles. I dont know much about them but I might entertain that idea aswell.

Whatever you choose for $200-$300, don't expect it to last long. You'll get what you pay for.

I have the same floor covering needs as you stated, and I went with H&C concrete stain and then coated that with the H&C acrylic sealer w/ anti skid additive from Sherwin Williams. I have had it down for a couple of months, and so far it looks great. You will find that you will need to do the same prep for the stain that you would do for epoxy as far as cleaning and etching goes, so I would say it takes the same amount of effort for both products. I went with the stain because it was more forgiving in application and quick drying, but the main reason was the lifting issues that people seem to have with epoxies. It would be a terrible mess to repair. My wife and I did a make over of our garage using this site as a reference and we are really happy with the results.

I did my 2 car garage with the Quikcrete water based epoxy but the custom color mix stuff. Blue with blk/gry/wht sprinkles which I would leave out. I was pleased with the results. One word of advice put it on thick. I was concerned about coverage since it was a custom mix and I couldnt run down and get more within the application window, and kinda skimped in the middle and wish I hadnt. Other than that its great so far

Absolutely DO NOT put a waterbased product on thick!

Waterbased products must be applied at a low thickness so that the water and co-solvents can evaporate. When you apply it too thick it will promote yellowing like CRAZY as well as causing other defects and lowering the life of the coating.

If you wanted a thick floor with the Rustoleum or Quickcrete type products you would just need to put on 15 or so coats.
