Need help reassembling dryer switch please!

Working on our LG dryer, I accidently disassembled the door switch. A small leaf spring fell out and I can't for the life of me figure out how it goes back into the switch!

Here is a pic:



This is driving me CRAZY! Thanks for any assistance...!

I could be wrong but it looks like a piece may be missing.

Thinking about it a bit more, I think I am missing a piece which would connect the metal leaf spring to the rest of the switch when the button is depressed, agree?

^vettex2 you just beat me to it - must be missing a small blade connector. I'm sure it got sucked up in the vacuum. Time for a new switch. Never easy!

You're missing the piece that comes off the actuator bar (that you have) that closes the contacts. But I bet you could make that piece.

That arm you have in the picture. Turn it clockwise 45degrees. Then barrel roll it 180degrees with the top spinning away from you. Than insert it into that recessed area directly above the door switch

It goes next to the spring. Curved end against the white plastic plunger. T tab slides into the white housing parallel to the plunger. I'm thinking it a tension thing for the switch.

Thanks guys, I'd love to try and make the connecting part, or find it. I just went thru the vacuum cleaner bag with a magnet, no dice. The missing connecting blade part is very small.

Check the bag again, might be plastic

I was able to make that little blade part and the switch is working again.

Unfortunately the dryer is still not making heat. Actually, it's not igniting the natural gas at all now. I could smell gas after I started it up and it's running cold. I'm thinking maybe it's the ignitor assembly now?

I put my infrared thermometer on the ignitor coil when starting the dryer cycle up. It's not getting hot at all. Guess I will order a new ignitor ***'y.

Actually I take it back, my ignitor has continuity so I guess that's not the problem...

The circuit also goes through a pair of contacts on the motor. Motor switch must be off start for those contacts to put current to the other side of the glowbar. The other side of the glow bar current goes through timer,switches and door switch.

Turns out the flame sensor assembly is not showing continuity, the other components seem to be OK. So now just the wait for it to show up in the mail!

Thanks I will - I was under the impression that the gas dryers don't have thermal fuses, but I'm sure I'm wrong?

I did check the high limit thermostats for continuity, and they were good...

I ended up re-fabbing the switch part I had originally made out of metal...now plastic. Didn't want to risk carrying any electrical current where it shouldn't be. Can't wait to put it all back together. I really hope I can get this fixed myself!

Just to put a bow on this thread for future reference...ended up testing all possible components for continuity - t-stats, thermistor, flame sensor, gas valve coils...

Cleaned the whole unit out really well including the vent hose which had more lint in it than I originally realized. Re-assembled tonite just for the hell of it and sure enough, she's running great again. Ran an entire drying cycle with towels and everything worked perfectly. Good save.
