Kind of crazy what I saw today. This morning I tore out my 25x40 concrete slab that was next to my garage because it was in such bad condition. The kicker is that this pad is only 9 years old but judging by the amount of cracks in it, it looks to be about 50 years older.
So anyway, after I tore it out I noticed that the dirt below it felt like a matress when walking on it and this was after compacting it. You could litererly take a step, sink a about three inches and then it would go back up when stepping off of it. This was not just in one spot but pretty much the entire 25x40 area. I am thinking there is so much moisture in the dirt right now that I need to let it dry out for a few days and see how it looks then. If it does dry out enough maybe I will put 8 inches of 2a stone down and then a couple inches of sand and then compact it? Any help / suggestions would be appreciated....
