So a while back I traded my hobart stick for a lincoln weld pak 3200hd and it came with both guns (one gas and one flux core).

Well, recently I had the budget to finally buy a darn tank and regulator and realized I dont have the hose that goes from the regulator TO the welder..

So, I googled and searched and cant seem to be sure Im finding the right thing.

Where do I get what I need to get setup for gas? Are all the hoses the same size? Like standardized or..

ANY help is appreciated guys.

Should of picked it up when you got the tank. :) As far as I know they are all the same size hoses. Just need the regulator, hose, gas, and mig wire to convert so your almost there. Just head back to where you got the tank and grab the hose, if not HD might have it.

Also be sure to check if you need to change your polarity on the welder. My Lincoln SP-175 needs the polarity reversed prior to using gas from flux (and vice versa).

Good luck!

bri_man: I actually havent gotten my tank yet ;) the guy at my local TSC kept babbling about how I didnt need gas and it was a useless cost, so I decided they didnt need my money haha.

I do have to switch the polarity, and Rookie: where does the solenoid mount? Im thinking the last owner had it on gas at one point as the gas gun came with it (I vaguely remember him saying such actually).

Thanks guys.

I didn't know there was a difference between a gas- and a flux-core "gun". All my MIG welders came with the gas equipment, all I had to do was reverse the polarity, turn off the gas, and put the flux-core spool on the spindle.

the solenoid's inlet is in the rear of the welder.

when you go to run gas, you need to run it w the ground on negative. fittings are standard.

if you need the solenoid, you're looking $170-200. should come with a regulator. set flow to 15-20 and you're good. don't forget to pick up solid wire and change drive rolls to smooth if they are knurled.

Im new to it myself but for whatever its worth - the gas hose that came with my hobart handler 140 is about 1/2" outside diameter and 1/4" inside roughly so you know what youre looking for (that is, if there is a "standard" for gas line size). Its clear with webbing inside it.

Check with welding supply store or better yet the manufacturer.

Agreed, customer service is big for me as well.

The difference is not in the gun/line portion, but the gun tip changes depending on if you are using flux or mig. The mig end is brass I believe and is open around the welding tip to allow the mig gas to get to the welding surface. The flux core is a plastic one that is tight around the tip.

OP, I just looked at the welder you got and you dont need a solenoid, the welder already has it. There is an inlet for the gas on it right?

-Get your tank
-Get a regulator to hook up to said tank
-Get hose from regulator to welder
-Change wire to mig wire (unshielded)
-Ensure proper polarity and mig tip on gun

And your off and away!
