need help setting up air compressor

Hello,

I have an air compressor I have been meaning to install and am happy to say I am finally getting to do it. I do however, know nothing about the dryers, filters, pressures etc though I have used air tools before.

I did buy a bunch of filters and stuff used and don't know which ones to use, where to place them, and what ones are good quality. Here is everything I got:

1. iron force IFA10900AV; appears to be a regulator with a guage.
2. Ashcroft Duraguage Q8639; pressure guage
3. Stanley Bostiich 86503K; filter?
4. Parker pneumatic 07F31AB; filter?
5. Parker pneumatic 07R313AB; regulator
6. Parker Pneumatic 07L31BD; lubricator
7. Monnier algonac 204-1100-4; filter with bowl guard?
8. Monnier algonac 204-4109-4; ?
9. Monnier algonac 304-1000-4; lubricator with guard?

I know I want to have a quick connect before the regulator so I can use this for just blowing air and things. Then go thru the regulator to the proper PSI for the air tools. I don't have any paint sprayers at the moment. SO, with all this stuff I got, what should I do. I'll fill my wall up with the stuff if needed. I do know that when I used to use air tools, I had to put drops of oil in the tool before hooking up the air. Does the oiler (lubricator) mean I don't need to do this anymore?

As for maintenance, what do I have to do to the regulators, dryers, filters, lubricators etc. I could find very little info on the net for any of the equipment, but monnier algonac seemed to have the most info. The one unit from algonac does have some type of filter in the center unlike the rest.

any help would be great from the more experienced air compressor crowd.

I run full cut off pressure through my black iron airlines to a air filter, regulator and then a coalesing filter. I have an oiler but I don't use it, I just add a few drops into the tool fitting. If you use the oiler just remember there will oil in that hose forever and not to use it for painting.

I wouldn't feel obligated to use any of it. I just have a regulator with a male one side female the other I can put inline if I want but I use full pressure unfiltered air 99.9% of the time and have for years with no issues.
Unless you have special requirements keep one of each and sell the rest and put the money to copper air lines.

Thanks for the info so far. So if I use the oiler, it stays in my hose. Never thought of that. Do you just put drops of oil in the tool before each use?

Guess I am down to a filter, dryer, and regulator. If I have one fitting un-regulated, do I put a dryer and filter before that citing and then also on the regulated fitting?

Out of the parts I listed, are there any that are better made or ones I should stay away from?

Parker is likely industrial grade, Bostitch likely pretty good. Not familiar with the other items.

I don't run a filter or dryer but depends on your climate and be sure to slope your lines to a trap and drain and take your outlets off the top side of your pipe runs.

You have the stuff so check some of the very many threads regarding air systems on this site. It has been almost beat to death.

Just don't ask about using PEX for airline!!!!

You should come out of the air compressor and go into a coalescing filter. That will remove bulk water and contaminants. Then run the air line into a regulator. Operating the tools at 90 PSIG or so will extend the life of the tool.

If you are running air lines yourself you should use galvanized pipe, copper or aluminum pipe designed for use with compressed air (like Infinity, SimplAir or Transair).

If I do use a filter and dryer, assuming the Parker units, what do I have to do maintenance wise on them? Do I ever have to clean them, change the filters, etc. I can't find any info on how to actually use them. Maybe just install and forget. Also, my climate varies, so will use a filter and dryer, assuming the dryer is the thing where water accumulates. How often do I need to place these; just one of each?
