Need Help to build U-shaped work table in garage

Hi everyone, I'm building a work area for my wife for her seasonal sewing projects and need some help. The area I have is 9' x 7' on one side of a 2-car garage with the 9 foot side adjacent to a door. I would like the table to have a top bar door I can flip open so we can walk in thru the work table area. That way I still get a full 1/2 garage to work in for my projects. A mini-split is in my near future too. Thanks.

Can you draw up an overhead view in MS Paint or something that shows what you want?

A good friend of mine runs a custom cabinet shop. He and I worked up a design for a sewing table for my wife. It's not U shaped but maybe I can help. It has a sewing machine lift and a serger slide out.

You are a good man to offer half of the garage for her projects! Mine wants to park her car inside, but that can be moved out when I need more space to work,

For lightweight sewing and craftwork, hollow core doors make excellent work surfaces. We used them for drafting tables in college.

If there is a chance of heavy stuff or people sitting on the tables, make a frame with 2x4s to set the doors on.

If this is a temp."seasonal," table I would just use saw horses and hollow core doors.
There is no need for heavy duty construction.

Just so you realize that by her sewing in half of the garage, it kills any wood, or steel projects. The dust and grinding grit stop your projects.
