I have a keeprite furnace with a Honeywell v82000 gas valve. When i try to light the pilot light Iam not getting any gas through the oriface. As far as I know when you turn the red button to the "light pilot position"it bypasses the gas valve to light the pilot while the thermocupuler has time to heat up......So is it a stuck gas valve?.....Am I on the right track her?.......Kirk

Kirk on most gas valves once you turn it to pilot you have to push it down and hold it to light the pilot aaaaand then hold it down for at least one minute while the thermocoupler heats up.

I knowyou must turn and hold down but when I do that there is no gas coming out of the tube.I dont think the tube is blocked but I have thought of detaching it from the valve and then seeing if gas come directly out of the valve.........thanks Kirk

Check and make sure someone has not turned the gas off at the meter or at another shut off. Those ports very seldom stop up.

I leave my pilot on all year. My furnace guy says tiny spiders spin webs in there and have to be cleaned out if it is put out. YMMV.

Yes, I'd crack the line to the pilot base and see if soapy water bubbles. The main valve can fail, but it's infrequent. All this stuff is available online.

As stated-it could have spider webs-or rust on the burner-which could give you problems. Clean first and re-try by holding down the button for at least one minute-if that fails, I would go to the hardware/big box store and replace the thermocouple (Maybe $10.00) than re-try??? Most of this info is on line!

hello Zeke.. I will try out cracking the connection at the valve. In theory the gas valve is circumvented when hold down to light pilot is actuated. So even if gas valve is faulty it shoudnt stop the gas from flowing in this case? The thermo couple is the next sequence in starting the furnace so you need the pilot light on before you worry about the thermocoupler......can you link me to any sites where there is info?........while Im on here I might ask you if the newer pt lumber is steel hardware friendly ,if not I think I need to exchange some brackets and screws.........I didnt think you need furnaces in SO,CAL?........thks Kirk
