I need a booster pump for my home RO/DI system, and im looking at this one:

http://123filter.com/catalog/isprin...gpd-reverse-osmosis-water-filter-pmp8806.html

It does not come with a wall wort/transformer. I can see in the pic that it draws 0.65 amps, and its a 24 volt pump.

A quick search on amazon gives me this for 24V transformers:

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_n...lectronics&field-keywords=24+volt+transformer

How do i know which one will be correctly sized for this pump? The company said they do not sell the transformers for the pumps, they merely sell the pumps as a replacement item for someone who bought a kit from them.

Get the 1A item, that will be plenty for the pump. As long as the wart is capable of delivering at least what the pump draws, it'll work. Also, a quick search shows that Amps = VA / volts, so the "40VA" units are 1.66A items. Which will also work.

Yeah, the pump itself says .6somethingA on it... so you need at least 16W output on the transformer/16VA. Since it is a pump, I would go with about 2X that rating on a small ****** transformer to help with startup and longevity.

Excellent, thanks everyone. Saves me $80 buying that pump over the aquatec 8800 w/ the $30 transformer they need.

edit: Just looking over the 24V DC supplys, and it appears thats commonly a laptop charger?

If so...i have a pile of laptop chargers that i could try. So long as its 24V and at least 2X the required amperage i should be good right? Since it appears the pump comes with loose wires for the power supply i dont have to worry about matching plugs.

Sounds good to me. I'd just use the laptop charger.

If u wanted to make the setup P-n-P(plug-n-play), u could solder a matching size plug onto the pump leads but that's just how I would do it if it were mine!
