Have any of you guys on here made your own set of Lawn Jarts or Lawn Darts. The original ones are not legal anymore, but I was wondering if anyone here has used their lathe and made a set. I need the measurements for the shafts.
Any help would be appreciated.

Goodness, I would never be involved in something so horribly dangerous AND illegal....

I bet you run pvc for air lines in your shop too, right? :lol_hitti

All kidding aside, I wish I had a lathe in my shop, I'd love to do something like this... Good luck:thumbup:

You can order something similar from the UK (legally), but the original "Jarts" (by Regent) / "Javelin Darts" (by Hasbro) / "Lawn Darts" (by Franklin) are prohibited. You can buy Hasbro flights on eBay but you'd have to get creative to make a knock-off set for yourself ... but this picture might help ya ;-)

Owning lawn darts is legal. The CPSC had made the SELLING of them illegal but recommend that you destroy them if you have an old set. documents here So enjoy your use of lawn darts safely, the law is not coming after you.

I seen a set for $250, in the original box.
I bought a set 2 years ago at a yard sale for $4.00. We had a bunch of ADULTS over last weekend and we played it. No one got hurt and everyone had a great time, now we want to get a tourney going with everyone. I guess we will have to keep a lookout for the cops.

I've actually seen some "Jarts or lawn Darts" reasonably priced on craigslist. I have no idea what the directions or rules said about how to play the game, but I would think that if everyone were throwing the darts in the same direction they probably wouldn't have had the number of accidents with them that they had.

I am taking a piece of 3/4 round stock, cutting it to 53mm. Drilling a 1/4 hole thru the 3/4 round stock and then inserting a piece of 1/4 round stock that is 300mm. The point will be pulled out 43mm and welded in place. That will leave me enough room to put the flights on the end. I am planning on getting the flights from a "safety set" of lawn darts.

Neat project.
In my neighborhood, there are so many kids running loose that anywhere you threw one of those, you could be assured of skewering one of the little buggers.
