Need help with ideas for kids scooter storage.

One of the biggest issues I have keeping my garage cleaned up is my kids scooters and bikes. While there are only two bikes between them, they have like 5 scooters (the razor scooter types) and they always seem to be laying everywhere. So I am looking for a good way to store them that keeps them out of the way. Has to be someway that the kids can get them out and put them away themselves, or it will never get used.

Gargae is a standard two car attached, all walls are drywalled in.

First thing that comes to my mind is to make some angle brackets out of 2x2 or even 1x stock that would screw to the wall. If you dont have scrap lumber around you can buy shelf brackets.
Make them as long as feasible (dont want to project out into the garage space too far). Mount one to a stud and another to next stud over.
Store the scooters upside down on those brackets - deck plate/ foot board (whatever you call it) would rest on the bracket and handlebars would hang down towards floor.
Not sure how wide these scooters are, but seems like you could get three to hang reasonbly without sticking out from the wall too far.

With 3 kids, a Razor scooter and Bicycle for all 5 family members I have a similar problem. Before I went to a motorized "bicycle" hoist I used these:

I screwed 5 of these into 2 adjacent studs. Put the neck in the hook and the handle bars easily hold it in place. The highest (mine) was 6' off the ground and the kids scooters were no more than 4' high so they can reach them with no problems. Getting them to hang them back up when they were done? That was a completely different problem...

I mounted the left hand "2 prong" bracket at a slight angle onto the wall so that the scooters would hang unfolded from the "T" at the top of the handle. The rear wheels would be to the left of the bracket - near where the power inlet is. I mounted the bracket to the wall to match the angle they wanted to hang at.

I put the basket above for helmets and such - we really needed 2 baskets as there are 4 helmets between us.

I forget what went into the right hand bracket - pogo sticks maybe? Can't recall. All of those toys are gone and we hang bags from the 2 brackets now.

The simple red hooks would work if you have a wood garage - I needed something more due to the block walls.

PS - Yes - that wall is PINK - we used left over paint to cover the GRAY block color in the garage and it's 100% brighter than it was. We did that probably 6 years ago and never painted it over. The walls are PINK, WHITE,BLUE and YELLOW. My garage doors are partially painted and NEED to be replaced!!!!!

JMHO, but this is what sheds are great for, keeping those things out of the garage. Realistically, you could build a small lean-to off the back/side of your garage ~4' high and 5-10' wide in a weekend and it would hold all manner of bikes, grills, patio furniture, lawn care, and gardening equipment....women LOVE room for "their" outdoor stuff too bc then you cant object when they buy lawn decorations and other shhhhh.....tuff.

DING DING DING!!! I think we have a winner here. I like this idea. I think I am going to spin it a little though and make it so the scooter decks go under a cabinet i have on the side of the garage.

This looks like it would be the way to go. Could you possibly mount this on the wall and get them up off of the floor?

I used a large hook made to hang an extension ladder and screwed it into a stud, held 3 of the razor scooters. After a few years, I got sick of still tripping over them and the bikes, so I this summer I bought a 4'D x 8'W Suncast shed and put it on the side of the garage. All of the kids bikes, scooters, skatebords, winter sleds etc are in there, it's just for their stuff. Wish I did it from the get-go...w/ all of the lawn/garden stuff in the big wooden shed and kids stuff in their shed, nothing but my tools and car in the garage. Between the shed and building a base I think I have @ $500 into it, kind of expensive but if it means no kid stuff in the garage for the next 10 years or so thats ok in my book.
