I've decided to do a ceramic tile floor for my garage. I've bought the tile and the mortar so far but realize I have an issue I need attend before I start.
My 35 year old house is in Texas, and the floor has some low spots, particularly in the back, close to where the slope begins. I have yet to go through it all and find all the low spots but will try to find them all with throwing a lot of water and see where it puddles.

So as far as I know my issue is two fold, and probably 3 or 4 since I'm not experienced with this. First, I want to use MAPEI Self Leveler Plus Indoor Self-Leveling Underlayment as it is what is available in local hardware store, but I get the feeling I should retain my slope and don't see how I could keep the slope with this type of product. Is that possible since it is self leveling? I get the feeling it might be possible and it depends on how I spread it. If that's the case what do you recommend on how to achieve this. I've seen other people's threads on tiling their garage and use it but I think a thread dedicated to this might helpful for more people who need to do this down the road.

The beginning of the low spot is about 3/4" and descends to zero since it's a slope. TYIA

I am in the middle if having my porcelain tile (12"x12") floor put down. In fair they start laying tile today. All I know is what I have learned on this thread and from my tile installer. Don't go cheap on the materials or you will not be happy. Accepting what a local hardware store has as the only rescues available to you are not a good thing. You can buy good products and have them shipped. Don't rush- do it right so you only do it once. Best wishes. Michael
