Need help with organisation and labelling

Hey guys,

I am reorganising my garage and I need some tips with that. I have a lot of cables lying around and I need some tips on how I can organise them and how I can properly label them.

I can't find such topics here, so don't my me asking please. Thank you so much!

Hi KenB,

Well, there are the power cords that we frequently use. Then there are some spare networking cables, LAN cables of different lengths, coaxial cables, and many other spare cables and wires, since my husband and I work on computers and we use our garage as storage.

One nifty solution that I've seen online is using toilet paper tubes. Alternatively you could use appropriately sized PVC pipe (~2"?) cut in small sections for a more durable solution.

I've been meaning to organize my collection of cables using this method, but haven't gotten around to it.

I like Velcro cable ties, they work well for coiling up and storing power cords, computer cables, etc. Here's one source but if you google it you can find them all over. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001E1Y5O6/?tag=atomicindus08-20 I'll bet if you looked around, you could find some that also have tags you can write on to ID the cables.

@alfredneuman, I disagree with you. i mean, those labels do look good, but I prefer to use more durable labeling tapes, and label makers such as Dymo Rhino 6000 labels

@PhysicsDude that organisation looks amazing! That one I can easily pair with the Dymo Rhino! I will definitely give this a go. Also, the Velcro method looks great as well, maybe I can use that for the cables that are in use!

The machine alone costs from $110 to $250.+ the tape
I've used them, and agree it they're better than the Ideal ones......if you have an unlimited budget.

I use ball bungees and tags made from cereal boxes. Cut the tag the size you need and double over the end (and glue) for a punched hole. Add an eyelet for durability. Attach with a string or wire.
