I have a 2004 kia sorrento. I was going to wait until I get my set of sk metric line wrenches to change the power steering line out but a leak turned into a rupture so I was forced to change it out now. unfortunately the only option I had was to go to autozone and buy their duralast ****. the cheap wrench ended up rounding the fitting off of the old hose and I can't get the damn thing to budge. rather than tearing s*** up beyond repair, I sprayed the fitting down with pb blaster and called it a night. my first hope is that I can crack it tomorrow after its been soaking all night. if that doesn't work should I get out the map gas torch? if so tell me how to properly heat a fitting so I can get it cracked. of course these flaring nut fittings are made out of aluminum and filled with power steering fluid. if heat is not an option then I will have to remove the entire line all the way up into the steering box. Grrrrr.

If you can get to it with a socket, cut the tube and slip a six point socket over the nut and back it out. You can also use a six point box wrench if the socket won't work. Hopefully there is enough of the nut left for the six pointed socket or wrench to work.

A stupid trick that has worked for me.. Put your cheap flare wrench on the fitting and then use vise grips around the flare wrench..
Cutting off the line and using a socket is also an option.

I ended up using a jigsaw with a metal blade(guess I have an excuse to buy an air cut off saw now!) to cut through the bad line to get to the 17 millimeter flare fitting. I theen used a 17 millimeter socket and ratchet along with my 18 millimeter sk flare wrench (got em in the mail today) on the backside to try to break the fitting. No go. it looks like I had just enough room to get my half inch impact wrench in there. I barely bumped the trigger and pow! Success. Replaced the blown line and was driving the car an hour later.:willy_nil

What model impact you running? That's pretty good of it came off that fast!

It's a 1/2" earthquake. I turned it to its lowest setting. I was afraid it was going to twist up the line and really be screwed as there was no room for leverage with the line wrench under there. Got lucky I guess. I'd rather be lucky than good any day!
