I've got some old taps I'm considering selling, but don't have a good idea on what they should go for. I know it's what someone is willing to pay, but just need an idea on where to start.

They all have some light rust, but nothing I think would affect function and no chips etc. in any of the cutting surfaces.

Here's the list and a pic (not all pictured)
Winter 1x14 NF
GTD (Greenfield) 3/4x14 NPT
Winter 1-1/8 x 12 NF
Crest 1x 11-1/2 NPTF
Greenfield (Greenfield) 1-1/2x11-1/2 NPT
Vermont 2x11-1/2 NPT

Thanks

get prices of new ones from the net, maybe Mcmaster Carr and then use a percentage off discount.

I have had little luck selling used taps or drills as it is hard to see if they are good or dull or not.

NOS or used?? And where do you plan on selling them?? If Ebay, just research completed sold listings.

I wouldn't get your hopes up. There's not much interest in used and/or rusty taps.

I see these at G-sales all the time in the $1 pile.

Rusty taps are of no real value. The rust first rounds over the cutting edge and then goes on to surface rust.

Another issue beside the rust is the fact they are quite large and most people have no need for 1, 1.5 and 2 inch taps.
