I have a 20x30 garage that came with the new home I just purchased. After a lot of thinking, reading and research, I have decided against epoxy and am going with Race Deck tiles to finish my floor.

I am looking for some advice on designs. I have been through pages and pages and pages on this forum as well as countless Google searches looking for inspiration. The overwhelming majority is a border of varying widths with checkerboard patterns. I CAN'T STAND checkerboard patterns and am looking to do something different. I have uploaded a few designs (http://imgur.com/a/iMbjR) I have been playing with. None of which I am particularly crazy about. Nor do I have my heart set on the colors as long as they look good.

If you guys have any good examples THAT AREN'T CHECKERBOARD, that would really help me make a final decision.

I'm obviously biased, but a version of the first would be your best route, in my eyes. Since you don't like checkerboard i also think you don't want it too "busy" I would suggest, black perimeter, blue ring around (like your first image) and then have the graphite as the interior. Anyhow my 2 cents.

p.s. I matched mine to the car i have parked in there. Not sure if you are applying a similar principle or just to a colour (blue) that you like. I also suggest painting the lower part of the wall around the edge of your garage in a similar colour as the perimeter colour you chose, I did black. That way it really helps to transition from the floor to the wall without looking choppy. You can see my build (link in signature) for more info as i may have confused you above :)

One thing I'll say is that if your pattern is too busy it makes it harder to find fasteners and other small items when you drop them, and harder to see fluid drips and puddles.

Less is more, I'm with Dubber. Depending on which tiles you go with you will still have a slight checkerboard effect albeit subtle like the pattern on Dubbers floor.

I never thought about this. Looks like a solid color with a border will be my best bet, and hilariously, my first gut instinct. Then I started looking around seeing all the different patterns people were doing and I drifted towards designs.

Look through the albums on racedecks facebook page. Allow yourself a couple days, because I'm wanting to say theres over 600 different garages.

One garage for the cars. My wife picked the design. I tried to get her do use a black border but she felt the black baseboard would do. The other is for the bikes & is my choice. I like the black border along with black baseboard.
