Hi All,

A kind lady sold me her late husband's mechanic creeper and ratchet and socket set for $10. Since I have no experience whatsoever with seemingly vintage ratchets, I am having difficulty identifying the make and model numbers for the 3/8 and 1/2 ratchets. Would anyone here know what type of ratchets the 3/8 and 1/2 are? I would appreciate any insight! Thanks :) I've attached pictures below.

My guess is offshore, house-brand. the pawls look like a variation of the old Williams Superratchet, which went out of business in the 70s iirc. Different top design.

No markings anywhere on the ratchet and mechanism. I actually accidentally broke the plastic selector switch trying to remove the ratchet parts for cleaning... guess no point in identifying it anymore. Thanks again, Shelbylex!

Thanks for the help, everyone! Appreciate the insight. I really like the thumbwheel aspect on the 1/4" inch ratchet I got. Does anyone know if this 3/8" Husky 22202 is only made in the USA? Pictures of the ratchet listed below. I see skking_06 listing the 1/2" version and saying its USA made, but I don't want to make any premature assumptions about the 3/8" version. What do you guys think?

P.S. I've been lurking on this site for awhile and you all have been a great help in my endeavors to search for awesome tools to help fix my family's cars. Thank you very much!

I am not 100% sure, I have that Husky in 3/8 and it is a good ratchet. Mine is quick release, is yours? I'm pretty sure they're made in Taiwan unless its marked USA.

Thanks for the info, JjKk40. I purchased it on Ebay for $14 and it hasn't come yet. The seller said its quick release. Okay I'm glad someone likes it!! Don't really need anything too fancy since I just work on my family's cars and this ratchet is within my budget :)

I've got standard and quick release versions stamped USA (for a few different brands) - it's much easier to find that ratchet design without a COO or not USA. I've long wondered if these might be the ratchets that got Stanley in trouble with the FTC, or if gradual production evolution saw their manufacture move overseas after starting in a US factory.

That's an old Challenger design that Stanley resurrected/rebranded as Husky, and others. Seen it as a Taiwan made tool and stamped USA as well.
That is one of the designs that got Stanley in trouble.
The Challenger ones and the Taiwan ones work better than the actual Stanley USA ones.
