Needing to buy a new pressure washer. Seems the last few I have dont have the pressure and just dont work well.
I have been reading up and seems the Honda Gx and CAT pump are the best.
I just cant find one under 500
I am not going use it much but when I do it might be 5 hours. I need to do 3 houses on my property, Shop and concrete drive and pool deck.
I have looked online at
John Deere
Generac
Pressure Pro
Simpson
I am wanting to add that power sweep attachment I want to stay around 100 on that so spending 600 total.

Unfortunately, I don't think you're going to find a GX/CAT combo (assuming triplex, not axial pump) for $500. They're more in the range of $750+.

You have to sacrifice the engine or pump to get it down to your price range.

That would be better to sacrifice? What would be the second choice?

You're Not going to find a good pressure washer in that price range, period. If you can't afford to buy one, rent one.

Simpson PS3425 2.5gpm 3400psi. $549 @ tractor supply. HONDA GX200 motor AAA Triplex pump.

Gun and nozzles come with the Simpson are good.

Go to a parker store get 50' 4000 psi hose.

Home Depot - homelite 15" surface cleaner $69 - freaking rocks

I have this combo and it kicks azz.

I have posted this link before - it is where I purchased my pressure washer from and I have been very happy with it

What I like about SprayMall is you can play around with the different Engine and Pump Combinations based on how much you want to spend

For example

Honda GX with CAT pump = $779

Honda GX with General pump = $759

Honda GC with CAT pump = $659

etc

I think AAA makes their own pump, if not by their parent company FNA. Would be interesting if Comet had a hand in designing one of them. AAA pumps are generally not well regarded like CAT, General and Udor. Probably good enough for the most part.

I agree, right around 800 for something decent. You didn't list ypour location, this helps with care. What works good is a 5 gallon bucket with about 3 gallons of anti freeze in it. Get a short hose for the suction side, pull freeze out of the bucket with the wand off, you can learn timing too,,, but shoot water out till you see green coming, put hose back in bucket. This keeps from diluting the anti freeze. When you want to use it hook water back up, put discharge hose in bucket, as soon as you see clear coming out remove it.
What you are doing is circulating and filling it with anti freeze, you might be able to use RV stuff too, not sure how much dilution it can tolerate. You can keep it to a minimum with proper technique. Some units have a Schrader on it, you can also make an adapter to hook air to pump suction and blow it out.

i guess I'd get the Honda GCV with the axial cam pump for $300 and call it a day. You can replace the axial cam pump for $100 or under, so even if you had to do it 2 more times you're still under the $500 limit. I use mine every year multiple times (5 years) for our two houses and I'm on the original pump. If I have to replace it this year, that would mean 3 pumps will get me 18 years of service and under $500. Works for me.

I have an old craftsman 2800 psi. I didn't know much about PW (still don't) when I bought it.

Recently, I have been considering buying a better PW. I have seen some video's where guys are cleaning the top of house from the ground. I like that idea. Getting on a ladder is a giant PITA for me.

Anybody have any idea where I can educate myself more on engines, pumps, whats good and not etc?

Thanks in advance.

brian, have you considered buying a used machine? now is a good time to catch a deal. are you familiar with the workings of the engine/pump? are there shops in your area that service cleaning equip. they can get parts you may need. the gx honda is a very good choice. cat pumps are good, but are expensive to fix. if you don't stress your pump (heat), there are a few pumps that will do the job. my brother has been using the same "consumer" setup for 15+ yrs. he never let's it sit there and idle.

Yeah I have looked on CL and Facebook.. All I see is consumer models but you dont know how they are treated. Commercial they are asking almost what new is and look like ****.. i just pulled the trigger on the generac belt model.. I feel it will suit me well and 0% for 12 so under 100 bucks a month make is sweet deal. I couldnt find many reviews but most positive. Thanks for everyone's suggestions on it. I figure it will last me forever.. I take good care of all must stuff and it lives in a barn so it last longer.

wow, that's a big 1. if you have alot of cement to keep clean, i would suggest looking into a turbo/rotating nozzle, or a surface cleaner. both save's time, wear and tear on your new machine. remember to not walk away from it and letting it idle without use. good luck
