The fuel is the problem. You will have the same problem no matter what the make. It has been explained to me that pump gas will be stale in 7 -8 weeks. The gas companies can make longer lasting gas but consumers won't pay the price for it. Today's pump gas is not a problem for use in cars because people go through a tank faster than 7 -8 weeks. Ethenal is another problem all together. Ethenal absorbs moisture from the air. When this moisture gets into the tiny passages in the carb and corrodes, that is the end of the carb. Even ultra sonic cleaner will not clear the carb in most cases. Don't waste your time or your customers money trying to clean a carb for one of these small carbs. Even from the dealer the carb is less than $ 40.00. I would say that 75% of the machines that come into my shop have failed due to fuel issues. Another 20% is plugged spark arrestor. Best thing you can do to help prevent fuel issues is to use a small gas can (1 gallon) and use non ethonal fuel. At the end of the season drain the gas, buy a can of Moto Mix from your STIHL dealer. Pour in about a 1/4 tank full, run the engine for several minutes and put it away. In the spring you can pour pump gas in on top the Moto Mix and you are good to go. They say Moto Mix has a self life of 5 years after the can has been opened. Moto Mix is the purest form of gas you can buy. And the Fs 45/46 is the lowest price STIHL sells. Spend the extra $'s. and buy an FS 70 or 90. I have an Kombi 110 with almost all attachments, a MS 211, a MS 250, a BG86 and a BG 55 and they all get the same treatment and they will usually start on 1 or2 pulls. Heck the chainsaws usually are only used once or twice a year and they will start everytime. Sorry for rant but I get upset when people blame a good name brand rather than the true actual cause.
