need help with vise id

from a buddy's shed. he is sending pictures of the other side next week. in the interim does anyone have any idea what make and model we have here?

from the looks of it i am thinking athol or starrett, not enough markings for prentiss?? not a parker because it doesnt have the lead screw retainer?? i am stumped.

i thought possibly rock island, but it looks like the handle knob is more bulbous. that's what made me think athol or starrett, also the mounting points have a bit of a point to them. like i said i am puzzled.

The lower jaw support isn't beefy enough to be a Athol so i would venture to guess its a Rock Island. Best way to tell is look for the small "x" mark on the dynamic jaw cheek, on the side you can see. They were almost always marked with that, even if they were not marked RI.

Another thing i would point out is the lead screw looks like a replacement, if the vise happens to be a Rock Island. The rear flange looks too square and similar to a Parker vise that operated by pushing against a collar to open.

Do rock island stationary vises have pointed mounting ears like parkers?
